Printed circuit boards are substrates for assembling electronic parts, and any electronic products need to be equipped with PCBs. Today, let’s take a look at the components and advantages of printed circuit boards.
The color of the PCB is usually green or brown, this is the color of the solder mask. It is also an insulating protective layer that can protect the copper wire and prevent short circuits during wave soldering. Usually, a layer of silkscreen is printed on the solder mask(words and symbols are printed on this to mark the position of each part on the circuit board).
When the final product is made, integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, passive components (such as resistors, capacitors, connectors, etc.), and various other electronic components will be installed on it. These parts are connected by wires and can perform many functions. The followings are the components and advantages of the printed circuit board.
The circuit is used as a tool for conduction between the originals, and a large copper surface will be additionally designed as a ground and power layer.
This is used to maintain the insulation between the circuit and each layer, commonly known as the base material.
The vias can make the lines of two levels or more connection to each other. The larger vias are used as part plug-ins. In addition, there are non-vias (PTH) that are usually used for surface mount positioning and are used for fixing screws during assembly.
Solder resistant /Solder mask
Not all copper surfaces need to be soldered, so the non-soldering area will be printed with a layer of substance (usually epoxy resin) that insulates the copper surface solder to avoid short circuits between non-solder lines.
The main function of silkscreen is to mark the name and position frame of each part on the circuit board, which is convenient for maintenance and identification after assembly.
Since the copper surface is easily oxidized in a general environment, it can not be tinned (poor solderability), so it will be protected on the copper surface to be soldered. The protection methods include HASL, ENIG, immersion silver, immersion tin, and organic solder preservative (OSP). Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, which are collectively referred to as surface treatment.
The use of printed circuit boards has the following advantages
⒈Because of the repeatability and consistency of the graphics, errors in wiring and assembly are reduced, and equipment maintenance, debugging and inspection time are saved.
⒉The design can be standardized to facilitate interchangeability.
3. The wiring density is high, the volume is small, and the weight is light, which is conducive to the miniaturization of electronic equipment.
⒋It is conducive to mechanized and automated production, which improves labor productivity and reduces the cost of electronic equipment.
⒌The bending resistance and precision of the FPC flexible board can be better applied to high-precision instruments.
